A new fact sheet to explain its role in resolving disputes under the new Police Officer Support Scheme.

The Personal Injury Commission has published a new fact sheet to explain its role in resolving disputes under the new Police Officer Support Scheme.

The Police Amendment (Police Officer Support Scheme) Act 2024 passed through both Houses of the New South Wales Parliament and was assented to on 27 September 2024 and creates a new support scheme for police.

The scheme replaces the former Police Blue Ribbon Insurance Scheme and the dispute resolution function of the scheme was conferred on a new division of the Personal Injury Commission. A new Police Officer Support Scheme Division has been established within the Commission and work is underway to review the relevant rules and procedures and recommend suitably qualified members for appointment.

The Commission will soon create a dedicated page for the new scheme on the website, but in the meantime, a new fact sheet has been created to help explain the changes. This is available on our fact sheets and videos page.

An amended Form 2 (Application to Resolve a Dispute) is available on the website to download and complete in relation to disputes under the new scheme. The form can be lodged by emailing [email protected].
