Keep up to date with the latest news edition issued by the Personal Injury Commission

Welcome to 2025. I hope you all had a restful and refreshing break.

With continued strong filings across the workers compensation and motor accidents divisions, the year is shaping up as yet another busy one.

Late in 2024 the Commission commenced the 500-page rule. The response from all practitioners and users was very pleasing, it was a very efficient and smooth start for this new rule. I would invite everyone to refresh their knowledge of the rule, there is a dedicated link on our website containing all the information you need.

This week, we held our annual credential meeting with the Law Society of NSW, reaffirming our shared commitment to strengthen collaboration and ensuring alignment on legal practice standards, professional accreditation and regulatory compliance in personal injury law. It was a pleasure to meet the newly appointed Law Society President, Ms Jennifer Ball. I look forward to continuing to work closely with the Law Society in 2025.

The first six months of 2025 will see quite a deal of recruitment activity in the workers compensation space. I will be advertising for a new Principal Member – Division Head Police Officer Support Scheme (dual appointment workers compensation), a full-time member and at least one sessional member role. Keep an eye out for the advertisements in PIC News.

Elsewhere in this edition you will find updates on our Pathway platform, artificial intelligence and some helpful information on getting to the Commission.

I wish you all a successful and engaging 2025.

Regards,

Judge Gerard Phillips
President
