Recruitment - Director Legal Services
As part of the introduction of the Government Sector Employment Act 2013, the Commission has reviewed its executive structure.
The position of Deputy Registrar Legal has been replaced by a new role, the Director Legal Services. The Director will lead and manage a team of in-house legal staff to provide legal services to the Commission and stakeholders.
The Commission is currently recruiting for the new role. For further information on the role and how to apply, access the following link:

Workers Compensation Regulation 2016
On 1 September 2016 the Workers Compensation Regulation 2010 was repealed and replaced with the Workers Compensation Regulation 2016.

Registrar's Practice Guide for Death Claims
A new Registrar’s Guide for Death Claims is now available on the Commission’s website at:
The Guide sets out the practice and procedure of the Commission in relation to disputes arising out of the death of a worker under Division 1 of Part 3 of the Workers Compensation Act 1987.

Registrar's Practice Guide for Work Injury Damages
The Registrar’s Practice Guide for Work Injury Damages has been updated to reflect the practice and procedure relevant to Rule 17.7 of the Commission Rules regarding applications to cure defective pre-filing statements.

Weekly Compensation Disputes
Disputes about weekly compensation are appropriately referred to the Commission for resolution where there is a decision by the insurer to dispute liability, usually notified to the worker by issue of a s74 notice.
Where a work capacity decision has also been issued, the Commission is not to make a decision that is inconsistent with the work capacity decision.
Parties are requested to ensure that in matters before the Commission where both a s74 and work capacity decision have been issued, complete copies of all the notices and the work capacity decisions are included in the application or reply. If a merit review or procedural review decision has been issued, copies of these decision should also be included.
Level 21 Facilities
Parties are reminded that the Commission’s facilities on Level 21, Oxford Street Darlinghurst are for the use of parties attending conciliation and arbitration or mediation conferences. Conference and meeting rooms are not available for practitioners to use to meet with clients other than those attending the Commission for proceedings on that day or for practitioners to participate in Commission teleconferences.
