e-Bulletin No. 78 - May 2018
e-Bulletin No. 78 of the Workers Compensation Commission - Teleconference listing arrangements
President’s Welcome
Welcome to e-Bulletin No. 78 of the Workers Compensation Commission.
This bulletin outlines:
- Teleconference listing arrangements
The Workers Compensation Commission’s dispute resolution model provides for a teleconference as the first listing event in matters involving liability for compensation, quantum of weekly compensation and/or medical expenses compensation. Since 2006, the teleconference has been listed at 35 days after registration of a dispute application, with almost one-third of matters resolving at that point.
As part of the Commission’s commitment to improving the timeliness of its services, teleconferences will now be listed 28 days after registration. The listing change will take effect for matters registered on and after 4 June 2018. It has been made possible by operational improvements enabled by the Commission’s transition to electronic files.
The date and time for the teleconference will continue to be included on the proceedings timetable issued with the sealed dispute application.
The Commission expects matters to proceed according to the Commission’s timetable and that parties will be ready to participate in conciliation at this earlier date. Lodging parties should be mindful of their availability to proceed in accordance with the new timetable when filing an application.
